The Balwadi programme created safe and supportive learning environments for young children from marginalised families. Alongside early childhood education, the programme incorporated nutrition support and holistic child development, helping children build the foundations required for successful entry into formal schooling.
The initiative operated 55 Balwadi Centres and benefited 3,175 children.
